ABSTRACT
Em 1985, foi aprovada pela CAPES a criação do curso pós-graduação em Pediatria, em níveis de mestrado e doutorado. Porém, foi autorizado iniciar apenas o mestrado, que ocorreu em 1987. Posteriormente, com a consolidação do mestrado, iniciou-se o doutorado, sendo a primeira tese defendida em 1998. Outra importante inovação ocorreu em 2004, com modificações na estrutura curricular e no processo de seleção, com a inclusão de outros profissionais. O curso passou de Pediatria para Programa em Ciências da Saúde, Área de Concentração Saúde da Criança e Adolescente. Com esta abertura, foi possível o ingresso de outros profissionais com diferentes formações para desenvolvimento de teses e dissertações, tendo como objeto de estudo a criança e o adolescente. Admissão de outros profissionais de diferentes áreas constituiu um marco na pós-graduação da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG e permitiu a inclusão de profissionais de outras áreas do conhecimento, além da área médica.
In 1985 it was approved by CAPES the creation of the course postgraduation in Pediatrics in levels of master and doctorate. However, it was authorized to initiate barely the master that occurred in 1987. Subsequently with the consolidation of the master it was initiated the doctorate, being to first thesis defended in 1998. Another one important innovation occurred in 2004 with modifications in the curricular structure and in the trial of selection with the enclosure of others professionals. The course changed from Pediatrics to Program in Sciences of the Health Concentration Area of the Infant and Adolescent Health. With this opening was possible the ingression of others professionals with different formations for development of theories and dissertations having like object of study the infant and the adolescent. Admission of others professionals of different areas constituted a landmark in the postgraduation of the Faculty of Medicine of the UFMG and permitted the enclosure of professionals of other areas of the knowledge beyond the medical area.
